China Traditions: Fishing People of Xiamen

Description

While I was taking photos of Xiamen, I was drawn to the rhythmic life of local fishermen. These photos capture their daily routine—mending nets, setting traps, and navigating the waters from their modest boats. It’s an honest look into their lives, showing the hard work and focus that goes into each day on the sea—a full glimpse into the Xiamen fishermen’s daily life, filled with dedication and time-honored traditions.

I shot (post-produced) black and white photos to emphasize the grit and texture of their work, the worn boats, and the nets being handled.
